Snoring is a problem for many people, and may be even more of a problem for those who have to sleep with them every night. Over the years, there have been many items advertised as the product to stop snoring. Needless to say, some have been more successful than others.
Various Products to Stop Snoring
One type of product to stop snoring is a dental device called a mandibular advancement appliance. You cant usually find these over the counter, but you can have one custom made for your mouth by a dentist. The downside to a custom appliance of course, is the higher cost. The purpose of these devices is to stop the soft tissues in the throat from collapsing and making it harder to breathe by obstructing the access to air. There is some evidence that these appliances are a somewhat successful product to stop snoring.
So-called stop snoring pillows may help, or just have no effect at all. Its not likely that they will cause any harm. These pillows are made of foam and shaped so that the snorer is more likely to sleep on their side. The pillows are not as comfortable if you lay on your back, and that is what makes it more likely that the snorer will sleep on their side, which may reduce snoring.
Another product to stop snoring that may help some people is nasal strips. These are usually strips that you stick to the top of your nose and across the top of your nostrils. They work by opening up your nasal passages a little more. This particular product to stop snoring will only work if the cause of the snoring is from stopped up nasal passages.
One rather expensive product to stop snoring is an adjustable bed. This bed can elevate your upper body and help keep your airway open during the night. Also, they may help keep your tongue in place and not against the back of your throat to cause an obstruction. The downside to this product to stop snoring is that it is probably the most expensive item you can try when it comes to trying to stop snoring.
Snoring can be a hard thing to deal with. Some products may work for some, but not for others. Certain types of products are definitely more expensive than others, and once you get them home, they may not work at all. Sometimes finding a product to stop snoring can be a difficult process, but hopefully in the end there will be an item out there that can stop the snoring for good.
